Perodua Posts 30% Jump In Sales For Q1 2015

Perodua has reported its financial results for Q1 2015 and, good news, the popular local automaker is seeing very strong numbers, both for overall volume and annual growth.

They sold 57,200 total units compared 44,024 last year during the same quarter, showing an increase of 30% over 2014’s figures, as well posting sales of 22,500 units in March 2015 alone – its highest monthly sales to date.

Perodua’s lineup is at a strongpoint, with these finances being propelled by increasing demand for its newest and most affordable model, the Axia. Over 60,000 units have been delivered out of the more than 100,000 bookings received. They are pushing hard to make it as widely appealing a model as possible, with the recent launch of its GearUp accessories pack being made available for the Axia first.

Datuk Aminar Rashid Salleh said that Perodua’s stellar Q1 can be attributed, at least in part, to “consumers looking to register their cars before the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax.”

Of course, with 8,400 units sold in Q1, the Myvi continues to remain a strong seller throughout the years since its introduction and has been a catalyst in Perodua’s financial rise over the last decade.

Other areas of Perodua’s businesses were also strong performers with an increase of 14% to RM84 million for its After Sales division as well as a growth of 2% to RM61.8 million for its Parts and Accessories division.

“Barring any unforeseen circumstances, we are cautiously optimistic that we will be able to achieve our sales target of 208,000 units for this year on the back of continued strong demand for our models and other promotions,” Aminar said.

There's just something about cars. It's a conveyance, it's a liability, it's a tool; but it can also be a source of joy, pride, inspiration and passion. It's much like clothes versus fashion. And like the latter, the pursuit of perfection never ends.
