This event is special for BMW Motorsport as it would be the 50th DTM race that they have entered since their return to the series in 2012.With two cars not making it to the end of the race, BMW Motorsport managed to score 6 places within the top 10. The ballast for the BMW cars was set to 5 kilograms following qualifying positions.Timo Glock qualified sixth on the grid, but managed to fight his way to second position by the time the chequered flag fell. Not far behind was Augusto Farfus, placing third despite starting in second position.
