2012 Audi Q3 Compact SUV To Arrive This September

The all-new Audi Q3, a compact SUV aimed squarely at the BMW X1, will be launched in Europe around the months of September or October later this year, according to company insiders who spoke to CarScoop. This time frame is consistent with known facts: Audi had confirmed in 2009 that the compact SUV will arrive in late 2011, slotting into the model range under the Q5 and Q7.

The report added that the Volkswagen Tiguan-based Q3 will be launched with a choice of three engines—a 170 hp 2.0-litre TFSI engine, a 211 hp 2.0-litre TFSI unit and a 170 hp 2.0-litre TDI diesel unit—with more engine options to follow later. The Q3's styling will be along the lines of the Audi concept car (pictured) showcased at the Shanghai Motor Show in 2007. More information should be revealed at the Geneva Motor Show in March or the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
