Lotus, a subsidiary of Proton, has released a batch of new photos of its future models: the Esprit, Elan, Elite and Elise. All six all-new models unveiled at the Paris Motor Show, including the Eterne and the City Car, will be in the market by end 2015, starting with the Esprit in the second quarter of 2013.
Integral to Lotus' five-year transformation plan, the upcoming models are expected to boost annual production from the current 2500 units to 8000 units by 2015. The new sports car models, spearheaded by the Esprit, will go head-to-head against premium offerings from Aston Martin, Ferrari and Porsche.
Malaysia accounts for between 20 and 40 units per year, but Lotus Cars Malaysia, a division of Proton Edar that distributes Lotus models, hopes to increase sales to 100 units a year by 2015 with the new launches.
