Chevrolet, a key brand under General Motors, is looking to shift its marketing headquarters for the Asia Pacific region to Indonesia from Thailand, a move that will see increased use of Indonesia-produced spare parts and the subsequent lowering of production costs.
“Chevrolet car sales in Indonesia have steadily and significantly increased over the past four years”, according to General Manager of General Motors Indonesia, Pramana Razi, explaining to Antara news agency why the Chevrolet management decided to switch bases.
In 2006, the Chevrolet brand ranked 16th in Indonesia for total car sales, but has risen to become one of the top 10 car brands in 2010 with sales of 4500 units, a 73 percent increment over the 2600 units sold in 2009.
