The Proton Emas and Lotus City Car concept cars have been confirmed for production, according to Lotus CEO Dany Bahar who spoke to Car Magazine. Three companies—Proton, Lotus and another undisclosed party—will work together to produce three versions of the supermini.
Proton will sell one version for the Asian market, Lotus will get a sporty version and the third party will offer another for the European markets. Bahar has set a launch date of October 2013, though the same time frame may not apply for Proton's version.
Not only is the third party unknown to us—though Nissan is rumoured to be involved with its V platform—the names are yet to be finalised too, and progress on the supermini project is still far from completion as Lotus is currently focusing all resources on the five new Lotus concepts, especially the 2013 Lotus Esprit.
