2011 New Toyota Avanza Launched In Malaysia

UMW Toyota Motor has updated the Toyota Avanza with minor changes for the 2011 model year. The 1.3E manual is priced at RM 62,000, the 1.5E automatic at RM 69,990, the 1.5G automatic at RM 74,990 and the 1.5S automatic at RM 77,490. All variants see price increments below RM 1000, except for the 1.3E manual, whose pricing remains unchanged (1.3E automatic is no longer offered).

Outside, the Avanza receives new body stripes along the sides, an optional Aerokit (available for the 1.3E, 1.5E and 1.5G) and a new Grey Metallic colour choice, adding on to the existing colour selection of White, Black Mica, Dazzling Silver and Light Green Metallic.

Instead of the beige upholstery used since the Avanza's introduction in 2004, the interior now comes with a dark-colour theme, in response to feedback from Toyota customers. A new 2-Din audio system with MP3/WMA compatibility and USB/AUX connectivity is now standard (available for the 1.5E, 1.5G and 1.5S).

The powertrains are unchanged: the 92 hp, 120 Nm 1.3-litre engine is still mated to a five-speed manual gearbox, and the 109 hp, 141 Nm 1.5-litre engine with a four-speed automatic gearbox, which gets a release button for the Shift Lock; pressing it allows for gear shifts without the need to step on the brake pedal.
