KLIMS 2010: Toyota FT-HS Hybrid Sports Concept

This is the Toyota FT-HS Hybrid Sports Concept on display at the 2010 Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show (KLIMS). Widely tipped as the successor to the Toyota Supra which had been discontinued in 1997, the FT-HS was first showcased at the 2007 Detroit Auto Show. Inspired by Formula One, the futuristic, aggressive exterior design is aerodynamically functional and representative of Japanese design.

Toyota's Hybrid Synergy Drive system produces a total of 400 hp, with input from a 292 hp 3.5-litre V6 and a 197 hp 650V electric motor borrowed from the Lexus GS 450h. The rear-wheel-drive, 2+2 FT-HS had been touted as a mid-market sports car positioned against the likes of Nissan's GT-R, though it appears that production plans have been postponed.
