All-New BMW Z4 Now Available In Malaysia

The all-new second-generation E89 BMW Z4 is now available in Malaysia. Not that many people are eagerly awaiting for the latest roadster from Munich to be launched —the Z4 sDrive23i goes for RM411,800 and Z4 sDrive35i at RM 558,800—prices far out of the reach of most Malaysians. Still, it is good to have some sexy roadsters to dream about.

Powering the Z4 sDrive23i is a 2.5-litre engine, with 204 hp at 6400 rpm and 250 Nm at 2750 rpm. The standard six-speed ZF automatic transmission enables the cheaper, less powerful Z4 to reach 100 km/h from rest in 7.3 seconds. The more expensive, more powerful Z4 sDrive35i is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre engine, producing 306 hp at 5800 rpm and 400 Nm between 1300–5000 rpm. A seven-speed dual clutch transmission, also used in 335i coupe and M3, is standard, allowing Z4 to complete the century sprint in 5.1 seconds.

The new Z4 is driven through the two rear wheels, indicated by the sDrive term. You may also remember the xDrive term currently used for the all-wheel drive X5 and X6. Considering the price, the long equipment list is expected and, among others, includes the new and improved iDrive system.
