Volvo XC60 2.0 Turbo Powershift Launched In Malaysia

The new Volvo XC60 2.0 Turbo Powershift has been launched in Malaysia. Replacing rather than complementing the fully-imported XC60 T6, the XC60 2.0 Turbo Powershift sells for RM 281,950 (OTR pricing without insurance) and is the only luxury five-seater SUV to be locally-assembled in Malaysia. More than 80 units have been sold since the new Volvo was made available for booking on 11 October.

Powering the new XC60 variant is the 2.0-litre GTDi (Gasoline Turbocharged Direct Injection) four-cylinder engine with 203 hp at 6000 rpm and 300 Nm between 1750–4000 rpm. With the generated power driving the front wheels via the six-speed Powershift twin-clutch transmission, the XC60 2.0 Turbo Powershift completes the century sprint in 8.9 seconds, reaching 205 km/h if you decide to flaunt the lawful speed limit. Fuel economy is given as 11.8 km/litre.

The equipment list is lengthy with the following as standard: 18" alloy wheels, xenon headlamps with Active Bending Lights (ABL), power-operated tailgate, rain sensor, leather upholstery, leather steering wheel with audio controls, power-adjustable front seats, automatic climate control, and 8-speaker audio system with 4x40W amplifier, in-dash 6-disc CD-changer and USB/iPod/Bluetooth connectivity.

Safety features are comprehensive as well. In addition to front, side and curtain airbags, braking controls, active headrests and front/rear seatbelt pretensioners, there is the Dynamic Stability and Traction Control (DSTC), Roll Stability Control (RSC), Roll Over Protection System (ROPS), Blind Spot Information System (BLIS), City Safety—a system that automatically brakes and stops the car when necessary to avoid low-speed collisions, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)—a system that monitors and adjusts the car's distance to vehicles in front, and Collision Warning with Auto Brake (CWAB)—a system that alerts the driver with visual and audible signals when nearing another vehicle, before automatically braking if needed.

But it's never easy for him to talk and write cars in this part of the world because what you lust after is often not what you drive home. When the euphoria of test-driving that branded, super-expensive sports car dies down, he just goes home in his less-than-glamorous ride.
