The five-door Range Rover Evoque has been officially unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show. A more practical version of the three-door Evoque, the five-door Evoque shares the same underpinning and powertrains as its three-door sibling, meaning that a 237 bhp 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a 2.2-litre turbodiesel engine with 148 bhp or 187 bhp will be options when the Range Rover arrives in mid-2011. MagneRide suspension with adaptive magnetic dampers will be standard.
Differences between the two are subtle to the naked eye, but significant in boosting the crossover's practicality: the aluminium roof is set 30 mm higher and more horizontal than the three-door Evoque's, improving the five-door Evoque's front headroom by 30 mm and rear headroom by 40 mm. Shoulder room at the back is increased by 50 mm. The overall weight goes up by 30 kg, however. Read more on the Evoque's full details.
