2011 Volkswagen Jetta European-Spec Unveiled

The 2011 all-new, sixth-generation Volkswagen Jetta European version has been unveiled, looking pretty much the same as the U.S. version Jetta but getting a higher-quality interior, a new rear suspension and a distinct set of engines—changes which Volkswagen hopes will enable the Jetta to replicate its U.S. sales success in Europe when it goes on sale in early 2011.
The Euro-spec Jetta looks identical to its U.S. counterpart, but comes with a more luxurious interior with higher-quality materials. Rear legroom is up 65 mm compared with the current Jetta. In order to cater for more discerning European palates, the Euro-spec Jetta gets a four-link rear suspension setup borrowed from the Golf Mk6, instead of a simple torsion beam on the U.S. Jetta.
European buyers are offered four petrol engines (105-hp 1.2 TSI, 122-hp 1.4 TSI, 160-hp 1.4 TSI & 200-hp 2.0 TSI) and two diesel units (105-hp 1.6 TDI & 140-hp 2.0 TDI). Bluemotion Technology, which includes stop-start and energy recuperation systems as standard, can be selected for the 1.2 TSI and 1.6 TDI variants. DSG transmission is an option for every variant except the 1.2 TSI. Read more on the 2011 Volkswagen Jetta.
