Volvo Car Malaysia will be launching a locally-assembled (CKD) variant of the Volvo XC60, the 2.0 Turbo PowerShift, in November this year. Mated to a six-speed PowerShift dual-clutch gearbox, the new 2.0-litre direct-injected turbocharged petrol engine packs 203 hp at 6000 rpm and 300 Nm between 1750–4000 rpm.
The current RM 330K T6 SE and RM 360K T6 LE variants, both powered by a 285 hp, 400 Nm 3.0-litre paired to a six-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox, will be discontinued. 150 units of the fully-imported variants have been sold since their launch last year.
Volvo Car Malaysia however assures that the CKD variant will still offer class-leading standard safety equipments such as the Dynamic Stability & Traction Control (DSTC), Blind Spot Information System (BLIS), Collision Warning with Auto Brake (CWAB) and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC).
The XC60 2.0 Turbo PowerShift will be opened for booking on 11 October 2010, with deliveries to follow by the end of this year. No price estimate was given, but a pricing below the RM 300K level appears likely.
