Paris Motor Show: Lamborghini Sesto Elemento Concept
sponsored links
You are looking at the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento (Italian for Sixth Element) Concept, a supercar that previews Lamborghini's future design direction and the way in which upcoming models will be constructed. Created with assistance from aircraft company Boeing, the Sesto Elemento is made from forged carbon, a brand new material that weighs the same and provides almost equal stiffness as normal carbon-fibre, though it requires significantly lower costs and lesser time to produce.
Indeed, forged carbon and normal carbon-fibre are everywhere on the car, featuring on the chassis, exterior and interior—which of course means that the Sesto Elemento is extremely light at just 999 kg. That figure includes the four-wheel-drive gear, transmission and engine borrowed from the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera, which weighs 1340 kg by comparison.
The 570 hp, 539 Nm 5.2-litre V10 engine and one-tonne weight count result in a power-to-weight ratio of 570 hp per tonne—enough to propel the Sesto Elemento from standstill to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds and on to a top speed of well over 300 km/h.
