Isuzu Malaysia Launches D-Max 2.5 4X4 Manual Variant

Isuzu Malaysia has added yet another D-MAX variant to its range: the new 2.5-litre 4X4 manual variant, which comes with a more powerful engine and a four-wheel-drive system compared with the current 2.5-litre 4X2 manual variant. Prices depend on trim level and paint finish: Type B (Solid) sells for RM 82,155.40, Type B (Metallic) for RM 82,481.40, Premium (Solid) for RM 88,411.40 and Premium (Metallic) for RM 88,737.40.

Equipped with an electronic commonrail direct-injection system, the new 4JK1-TC 2.5-litre turbodiesel engine generates 116 hp at 3600 rpm and 280 Nm at 1800–2200 rpm. By comparison, the current 4JA1-L 2.5-litre turbodiesel unit only produces 79 hp and 176 Nm. The new engine is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox and a four-wheel-drive system, the latter of which offers touch-on-the-fly shifting between 2WD and 4WD at speeds up to 100 km/h.

The Premium version is outfitted with projector head lamps, fog lamps and chrome side mirrors with turn indicator for the exterior; e-Lumax instrument panel with multi-information display, 2-DIN audio system with MP3/WMA compatibility and leather-wrapped steering/gear knob for the interior; and dual SRS airbags plus ABS with EBD on the safety front. The Type B version is equipped with none of the aforementioned items, however.
