The production of the Peugeot 206 will cease, in Europe at least, at the end of 2011. New European Union legislation is forcing Peugeot to end the 206's production in France and the U.K., but production and assembly of the much-loved 206 should continue in Brazil, Argentina, Iran, China, Indonesia and of course Malaysia, where the compact hatchback is sold as Naza 206 Bestari.
Introduced in 1998 to replace the 205, the 206 became a huge success, with five million units sold by 2005 and 6.8 million units by the middle of 2010, marking it as the best-selling model in Peugeot's history. Its replacement, the 207, was introduced back in 2006, but the two models are still sold alongside each other in many markets.
