2012 Next-Generation Porsche Boxster Spy Shots

The 2012 next-generation Porsche Boxster has been caught on camera, showing a profile and styling merely evolved from the current-generation Boxster's. Despite the familiar design, the all-new Boxster will come with every panel on its body changed and its canvas roof redesigned.

In accordance with the company's strategy of reducing weight count, in order to lower emissions and improve fuel economy just to keep up with increasingly stringent governmental regulations, Porsche will use as much lightweight materials as possible in the construction of the new Boxster.

A range of relatively small-capacity turbocharged engines is expected to power Porsche's entry-level model, though exact details should only emerge closer to the car's official unveiling at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. Sales of the 2012 Boxster should begin sometime in 2011.
