2012 Audi R8 e-tron Spy Photos

Heavily disguised in the spy photo above is the Audi R8 e-tron, the all-electric, four-wheel-drive supercar which debuted at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show and is heading for production in 2012. The full camouflage may have disguised the styling of the car well, but the combination of a profile that so closely resembles the distinctive shape of the R8 and the complete lack of air intakes and any other external cooling ducts gave the R8 e-tron away.

The R8 e-tron is driven by four independent 78 hp, 1125 Nm electric motors—two mounted on the front axle and the remaining two on the rear axle. A 53 kWh lithium ion battery pack, situated in the engine bay of a conventional R8, powers the four motors. The electric drivetrain generates a grand total of 313 hp and 4500 Nm, enough for the R8 e-tron to achieve a 0-100 km/h time of 4.8 seconds and a top speed of 200 km/h, while travelling a maximum range of 248 km.
