2011 All-New Hyundai Coupe To Arrive Early Next Year

The long-awaited 2011 Hyundai Coupe, also called the Veloster, will go on sale across European markets early next year, but will make its debut at the Paris Motor Show before that in September. Malaysians should be able to get their hands on the new Coupe within the first half of 2011.

Designed to be a radical departure from the two-door model currently sold, the new 2+2 Coupe appears short and hatchback-esque, judging from these spy shots. Indeed, Hyundai has confirmed that the new Coupe will be positioned as a direct, though cheaper, rival to Volkswagen Scirocco.

Providing the performance to chase after the Volkswagen is Hyundai's latest 1.6-litre direct-injected Theta engine. Two engine variants will be made available: a naturally-aspirated version with 140 bhp and turbocharged version churning out 200 bhp. A twin-clutch transmission is rumoured to be on the table, too.
