Nasim Sdn Bhd, part of the ever-expanding Naza group and the official distributor for the Peugeot brand in Malaysia, has raised its 2010 sales target to 3800 units from 2930 units, in line with the 3766 units sold in 2009. Nasim has good reason to be confident, as three all-new models and two new facelift models are scheduled to be launched in the second half of 2010.
Despite the phasing out of the 206 Bestari, which amounted for more than 60 percent of Nasim's 2009 total sales, sales have been encouraging for the first four months of 2010, driven mainly by the 308 Turbo, while the 308 VTi and the 407 also showed improving figures. Excluding the sales generated by the 206 Bestari, Nasim has sold 715 units year-to-date.
The rest of the sales target will have to come from all-new models including the 5008 MPV, the 207 sedan and the 3008 crossover, and two facelift models, one of which is the 308 VTi. The soonest to arrive will be the 3008 in early June. In fact, Malaysia will be the first country in ASEAN to officially get the 3008, a crossover SUV that has won multiple awards and has attracted a number of pre-launch bookings.
