Renault Laguna Coupe has been launched in Malaysia via TC Euro Cars, the official distributor for the Renault brand in Malaysia. Direct rival less, the fully-imported, four-seater Laguna Coupe commands a premium pricing at RM 259,868.89 on-the-road without insurance. Its closest rival, the Peugeot 407 Coupe, is not available in Malaysia, although both Volkswagen Passat CC and Alfa Romeo GT Coupe come close in terms of positioning.
Powering the large-size coupe is a 170 bhp, 270 Nm 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which is paired to a six-speed automatic gearbox with manual override. Weighing 1480 kg, the Laguna Coupe accelerates from rest to 100 km/h in 9.2 seconds, before achieving a top speed of 220 km/h, Renault claims.
The Laguna Coupe shares the Renault/Nissan D-platform with the Laguna sedan/hatchback and Nissan Murano. The steering is hydraulically assisted, while the suspension is set up with MacPherson struts at the front and torsion beam at the rear. Safety features include braking controls (ABS, EBD & BA), electronic stability program (ESP) and six airbags, all of which go some way towards justifying the five-star Euro NCAP rating.
Other standard equipments include 18" alloy wheels, bi-xenon headlamps, electrically-adjustable front seats, cruise control, automatic climate control, leather upholstery, 10-speaker BOSE audio system with Bluetooth/USB/AUX connectivity. Three colours—grey, silver or black—are available for selection for the exterior, and two—black or camel brown—for the interior. A three-year or 100,000 km warranty is accompanied by 24/7 breakdown assistance.
