Euromobil Becomes Exclusive Audi Distributor; Could Take Over Fiat Franchise

Euromobil Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of DRB-HICOM Bhd, is aiming high after becoming the exclusive distributor of the Audi brand for Malaysia since February 2010. Having sold 465 Audi units last year, Euromobil has been tasked by Audi to sell at least 700 units for this year, although the company is expecting to sell 1000 units, given the strong interest in the compact A4 sedan and mid-size Q5 SUV.
Going forward, Euromobil intends to increase the number of 3S (sales, service & spare parts) centres throughout Malaysia, before embarking on the local assembly route that competitors including BMW and Mercedes-Benz are doing. Meanwhile, however, the full range of Audi models will continue to be fully imported.
On a separate note, DRB-HICOM could also take over the local Fiat franchise in due time, depending on how the Fiat/Chrysler alliance turns out. Fiat has been left without an official presence in Malaysia since December 2009, when Torino Motor Industries (M) Sdn Bhd and its sister company, Ally Azran Holdings Sdn Bhd, officially ended relationship with the Italian automaker—hardly surprising as Malaysians bought fewer than 60 Fiat units in the past five years.
