Proton Concept Car Available In Three Body Styles

More photos of the Proton concept have been released by Italdesign Giugiaro, days before its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show. And it turns out that there are three body styles: three-door and five-door hatchbacks as well as a mini-SUV.
The hatchback can accommodate four, while the mini-SUV can seat five thanks to the absence of the B-pillar. What's more, Giugiaro says that the 3550 mm long A-segment Proton concept offers interior room that rivals much larger C- or D-segment cars and even SUVs.
As it was made known earlier, Proton concept is based on a Lotus-developed, fully-electric hybrid drivetrain. Lithium ion batteries, situated between the car's double floor, power an electric motor at the rear that drives the rear wheels. Located at the front, the 1.2-litre, three-cylinder engine acts as a range-extender by recharging the batteries when the charge level drops. The best part? The engine also runs on either petrol, ethanol or methanol.
