The 2011 Porsche 911 Turbo S has been unveiled, and will go on sale across Europe from May after making its Geneva Motor Show debut next month. The fastest, most powerful and most expensive 911 Turbo ever, the all-new 911 Turbo S will be a non-limited production model for the first time, topping the 911 range for the remaining two years of the 997's life cycle. Coupe and convertible variants will be available.
Designed for customers who demand the ultimate 911, the 911 Turbo S is powered by a 3.8-litre twin-turbo flat-six engine with 523 bhp and 700 Nm. The seven-speed PDK dual-clutch gearbox and four-wheel drive system complete the drivetrain. Further aiding the on-road performance are Porsche's Traction Management system and Torque Vectoring system, the latter of which comes with a mechanical limited-slip differential.
The chassis is upgraded with the Sport Chrono package, which brings along Launch Control and Dynamic Engine Mounts. The end effect is increased chassis rigidity, reduced vibration and better acceleration numbers. 0-100 km/h takes 3.3 seconds, 0-200 km/h takes 10.8 seconds, and top speed is 315 km/h. At 8.8 km/litre, fuel economy is impressive for such a powerful sports car, too.
Many equipments which are optional on the 911 Turbo are made standard on the 911 Turbo S. Standard equipments include 19" RS Spyder-style alloy wheels, wheel-mounted paddle shifters, CD/DVD changer, ceramic composite brakes, Dynamic Cornering Lights, adaptive sports seats, cruise control, and unique two-tone leather upholstery.
