Renault Wind Revealed Ahead Of Geneva Motor Show

This is the Renault Wind, a two-seater coupe-roadster, as Renault calls it, that is heading for March's Geneva Motor Show. Unlike the Wind Concept car previously introduced by Renault, this Wind will make production from June, positioned against the Peugeot 207 CC.
From its platform to the front-end styling, much of the Wind is shared with the Renault Twingo, although the yet-to-be-revealed interior will be unique in design, borrowing components used by more expensive Renault models.
Powered by a 99-bhp 1.2-litre engine or a 131-bhp 1.6-litre unit, the front-wheel-drive Wind offers two gearboxes to go along with the engines. For now, though, there are no plans for diesel engines nor Renaultsport versions.
Despite the coupe-roadster billing, the Wind features a retractable hard-top roof like other coupe-convertibles. A key difference lies in the roof setup, however. By using a central pivot, a design inspired by Ferrari's 575 Superamerica, the roof flips 180 degrees into the loadbay in just 12 seconds. The best part? The boot space remains at 270 litres regardless of the roof's position.
More details should emerge in a month's time in Geneva, where the Wind will be showcased alongside the all-new Renault Megane CC.
