Volvo Car Malaysia has launched the V50 2.0-litre Powershift, replacing the V50 2.4-litre previously on sale. Also used by the S40 launched last year, the new drivetrain consists of a 145-hp, 185-Nm 2.0-litre engine paired to a six-speed Powershift dual-clutch transmission. The lower-capacity engine and more efficient transmission, both sourced from Ford, can reduce fuel consumption by up to 11 percent, according to Volvo.
New equipments include dual xenon lights, keyless entry, BLIS (Blind Spot Information System) and DSTC (Dynamic Stability Traction Control)—which add on to a list with items such as leather upholstery, 6-disc in-dash CD-changer, electrically-adjustable front seats, cruise control, interior air quality system, front/side/curtain airbags, seat belt pretensioners, and whiplash protection system.
The locally-assembled V50 sells for RM 185,950 on-the-road without insurance. A three-year warranty and three years of free Volvo On Call service, Volvo's roadside assistance programme, come along with the car.
