Finally A New iDrive System For BMW 5-Series

From now onwards, all BMW 5-Series will come with the new iDrive system which made its debut in 3-Series in 2008, BMW Malaysia recently announced. By right, the system should allow for convenient control of entertainment, communication and navigation functions. But the first-generation iDrive is anything but easy or convenient to use. Luckily, the second-generation iDrive promises to be far more intuitive in operation.

The new system uses an 8.8-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 480 pixels, allowing for more defined graphics that, according to BMW Malaysia, surpasses all graphical displays currently on the market. There are eight favourite buttons on the centre console enabling drivers to store their preferences such as radio channels and navigation destinations for convenient access. Another improvement lies with the four direct selection keys on the controller, which allows direct access to the most frequently used menu options.
