Tesla EV For The Masses Within The Next 5 Years

Detroit, a city synonymous with wheels, roaring engines and horsepower, is being quietly taken over by little cars stuffed with plenty of green technology that will supposedly help us destroy the world at a slower pace. With major automakers such as Toyota unveiling the FT-CH Compact Hybrid Concept, Honda with the CRZ-Sports Hybrid and Hyundai with the hybrid plug-in Blue-Will Concept at the Detroit Autoshow 2010, automakers are hinting that a new wave of affordable hybrid/electric vehicles will hit the market soon.
Riding on that wave, Silicon Valley based Tesla Motors, known for its outrageously expensive products such as the Tesla Roadster, has announced that it would soon be building an affordable electric vehicle after launching the Tesla Model S (shown above). The new EV will be available to be the masses within 5 years with an annual production of 20,000 units. The “people’s car” as Tesla Chairman Elon Musk has termed it, will cost about half the price of the Tesla Roadster.
