Maruti Suzuki Introduces The Suzuki R3 Concept MPV

Maruti Suzuki, the company with almost 50 percent of the Indian market share, has launched the Suzuki R3 Concept MPV at the New Delhi Auto Show. Futuristic on the exterior and interior, the R3 is a six-seater, three-row compact MPV that caters to India's growing middle-class population seeking something stylish yet practical.

No official information has been released regarding the platform and powertrain, but the word on the street says that the R3 could be equipped with 1.2-litre and 1.4-litre petrol engines from within Maruti Suzuki, and possibly a 1.3-litre diesel unit from Fiat. The R3's platform is believed to be a stretched version of Maruti Suzuki SX4's.

Despite unveiling the R3 live on India's national television, the company has not confirmed that a production version will follow this concept, although rumours are rife that a production-ready model would emerge within two years.
