Alfa Romeo Advertises The 147 At The Lowest Point On Earth

Creative advertisements continue to come our way. First, we hear of celebrity endorsements with the current Miss Universe Australia marketing Proton Saga Down Under. Then, we see Fiat 500C’s bikini-clad dance and shake marketing campaign in Amsterdam, Holland. Now, however, a contender for the most creative advertisement has emerged from Fiat's sister company Alfa Romeo.
To prove that the 147 is the cheapest in the European market, Alfa Romeo sent an expedition to Marianas Trench, the deepest part of the world's oceans and the lowest point of the earth's surface known to man. Armed with a billboard with 147's picture and the tagline We can't go any lower, the expedition went to that very location and lowered the billboard to the lowest point, documenting everything along the way in a six-minute long video.
While Alfa Romeo may have put their message across in no uncertain terms, it brings to mind the adage: Don't mess with mother nature. Imagine another company putting a billboard on the summit of Mount Everest; such forms of advertising may not go down well with everyone—especially if the billboard was not brought up, although that seems highly unlikely.
