Hyundai Tucson, known elsewhere as Tucson ix35, is officially available in Singapore for S$79,999 with COE. Shown off at the recent Frankfurt Motor Show, Tucson represents the new crop of Hyundai models designed not only to provide value for money, but style, driving pleasure, quality and image as well. By comparison, Honda CR-V appears expensive, costing S$108,500, even if that is for the 2.4-litre variant.
As expected, Tucson is well-equipped, boasting a long list of equipments dominated by a reverse camera integrated with the rear-view mirror. Powering this mid-size SUV is Hyundai's 2.0-litre four-cylinder Theta-II engine with CVVT, capable of generating 166 bhp and 197 Nm, paired to an all-new six-speed automatic transmission, which is said to be lighter, quicker-shifting and more fuel efficient than the four-speeder of old.
