Audi Q5 Officially Launched in Malaysia

Automakers should be jealous of Audi: Speaking at the official Malaysian launch of the Audi Q5, Audi distributor Euromobil CEO Stanley Tan said “The popularity of the new Audi Q5 is causing a shortage of supply around the world, so we expect to take a little bit of extra time to make deliveries to our customers.” The overwhelming sales comes at a time when most automakers are feeling the recessionary impact. He further mentioned that Q5 and A4 are expected to make up the majority of Audi sales in Malaysia for 2009.

The smaller alternative to Q7, Q5 is Audi's answer to BMW X3. Its drivetrain consists of a 211 bhp 2.0-litre TFSI engine mated to a seven-speed S-tronic gearbox, while four-wheel drive Quattro is standard, too. Regular and the more luxurious S line trims are available, costing RM 299,000 and RM 325,000 respectively. Prices are on-the-road without insurance.
