Mazda RX-7 Awaiting Green Light

Automotive insiders are rejuvenating the rumors that Mazda's RX-7 is on the verge of making a comeback to compete with Toyota's very own resurrected AE86. Reports are claiming that Mazda's chief of design had already completed sketches of the modernized RX-7, and is awaiting the board of directors' approval for further development of the project. However, it is still unclear if the upcoming model will be reborn as a 2+2 coupe similar to the current RX-8 or as a pure two-seater. If given the nod by Mazda supremos, the new RX-7, fitted with Mazda's updated rotary engine, could make an appearance at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show, as a direct competitor to Toyota FT-86.
