Naza Kia Launches The Forte In Malaysia

The car that heralds a whole new design era for Kia is here: The Forte has been officially launched at the Pavilion, KL today. And no, it is not Kia Forte nor Naza Forte, the name is just Forte. There are three variants, from the RM 75,800 1.6 EX, to the RM 81,800 1.6 SX, and the range-topping RM 93,800 2.0 SX. Prices are on-the-road inclusive of insurance. Available in six colours, Forte has a two-year or 50,000 km warranty, which ever comes first.

A C-segment or mid-size sedan competing against the likes of Honda Civic and Toyota Altis, Forte is powered by either a 1.6-litre or 2.0-litre engine, both paired to a four-speed automatic transmission as standard. The 1.6-litre Gamma engine with CVVT generates 126 hp at 6300 rpm and 157 Nm at 4200 rpm. The 2.0-litre Theta-II engine with CVVT produces 156 hp at 6200 rpm and 194 Nm at 4200 rpm.

The base 1.6 EX gets hydraulic power steering, ABS, dual front airbags, active front headrests, 15" steel wheels, front fog lamps, USB/iPod connectivity for the audio system, two reverse sensors and electronically adjustable and heated door mirrors.

The 1.6 SX adds automatic air-conditioning, traction control, electronic stability control, rear parking assistance system, “Supervision” meter cluster illumination, leather steering wheel and gearshift knob, telescopic steering adjustments, alloy pedals, Start button and Smart key system, 17" alloy wheels, tinted windscreen, chrome outer door handles, four reverse sensors with display on trip computer and 6-disc CD changer.

But of course, the 2.0 SX gets the most comprehensive of equipments, adding to 1.6 SX's list side and curtain airbags, electric power steering and leather seats.

In the words of Naza Kia CEO S.M. Nasarudin S.M. Nasimuddin: “The Forte is a complete package for those who want style, functionality, technology and safety”. Naza Kia is targeting to sell 6,000 units per year; From the looks and value for money aspects, that target appears very achievable indeed.
