The thing about competition is this: the best candidate may not win. That is true of any sport, including Formula One. Autosport attempted to find out if the best driver won the 2009 F1 season, polling the various team principals and ranking their top ten choices. The final result would have current world champion Jenson Button crying foul, because the runner up Sebastian Vettel came up as the best in the polls, with Button taking seconds. Like all polls of such potentially relationship-wrecking nature, this one was of course anonymous.
