Like all supercar makers, Danish firm Zenvo Automotive wanted to build “a trackworthy supercar that would be also suitable for everyday use”. And so they started working on the prototype version of Zenvo ST1 in 2004. The headline numbers: 1104 hp, 1430 Nm, 375 km/h top speed and 3.0 seconds 0-100 km/h time.
Granted, the amazingly fast 3.0 seconds may be claimed, but the 802 hp-per-tonne power-to-weight ratio means that number could be possible. Using Corvette Z06's platform and 7.0-litre V8 engine, ST1 weighs just 1376 kg, constructed from a lightweight steel space frame, with lightweight carbon fibre panels making up the bodywork.
Paired with a six-speed manual gearbox, the V8 engine has been massaged to generate 1104 hp and 1430 Nm of torque, and is the first supercar powerplant to incorporate both supercharging and turbocharging.
Despite the American engine and platform, ST1 is otherwise very Danish, featuring a “100 percent Danish design” and being “100 percent built in Denmark”.
ST1 is also fitted with climate control, satellite navigation, 7.5" LCD screen, DVD player, rear view camera, iPod and MP3 playing audio system, electrically adjustable racing seats, head-up display, cruise control, and two airbags.
Full-fledged production starts later this year, with only 15 units to be built. Might as well, because the 850,000 euros (4,309,503 ringgit, before duties) transforms into an astronomical figure upon reaching Malaysian soil. So let's just enjoy the gallery!
