2013 Toyota FT 86 Open Top Concept To Be Revealed In Geneva
As if the Toyota 86 wasn’t fun enough to drive, the Japanese carmaker has set upon us even more fun – and lots more sex appeal; welcome, the Toyota FT 86 Open Top Concept. Prepare your hair nets and hats for its reveal at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show.
Gorgeous and playful; not one for the wild
Images have been spreading like wildfire on the web of the new concept from Toyota after it was announced to showcase at Geneva next week, and we’ve got to say, this is a very, very pretty car to look at.
The former roof has been replaced by fabric that is rumoured to electronically tuck away, and come back up at the press of a button. Other exterior changes mostly accommodate for the missing solid piece of roof; there’s a newly designed windshield and bonnet.
No specification details of the Toyota FT 86 have been revealed by Toyota; but suggestions point to a similar power/drivetrain to that of the 86 Coupe: a 2.0-litre flat-four petrol engine, with roughly the same performance figures.

One for the rest of world
The Toyota FT 86 Concept may not visually be too different from the 86, but we’re hazarding guesses at it being a lot more playful, rather than being a serious drifting machine as is its counterpart; added weight, softened chassis, wind in your hair – none of which help the cause of the hardcore motor junkie, but service the rest of the world’s driving pleasure.
