Volvo cars have always pride itself as the leader in the field of automotive safety engineering. The Scandinavian automaker, which invented and patented the modern 3-point safety belt, is ready to take the first steps in reaching its ultimate goal – building a car that cannot crash, starting with the highly anticipated successor to the current Volvo S60 sedan.
Having already introduced the City Safety system in the Volvo XC60, whereby the vehicle brakes automatically if the driver fails to react in time when the vehicle in front slows down or stops, Volvo will start the first production use of its new anti-collision system. Officially known as Collision Warning With Full Auto Brake And Pedestrian Detection system, in the upcoming Volvo s60 sedan. The new system will response accordingly by tracking and anticipating the paths of pedestrians and other vehicles. Volvo claims that the new system can, on its own, completely eliminate any collision under 25km/h, though we doubt that Volvo can do anything about other cars crashing in to you!
Check out the cool video showing how the Collision Warning With Full Auto Brake And Pedestrian Detection works below.
