Fiat To Build Entry-Level Maserati Based On Chrysler Platform

Fiat Group’s head of business development, Alfredo Altavilla has recently revealed to unions that the Italian giant will be producing up to 500,000 new vehicles yearly, in the newly acquired Bertone plant near Turin, Italy. Altavilla added that an official statement will be made on November 4th to announce the brand and the models that will be built.

Rumor has it, automotive insiders claim that two new vehicles will be produced utilizing Chrysler’s large-car platform. The first vehicle might be the Lancia Thesis sedan and the second, the highly anticipated entry-level Maserati.

Thankfully for the Maserati faithfuls, the above image is not the latest concept teaser from the Italian automobile manufacturer for the rumored entry-level Maserati. The Maserati Kuba shown above is an exquisitely piece of automotive artwork, created by Russian designer Andrey Trofimchuk, for an independent design study for a crossover Maserati. We are certainly very impressed by the renderings but we are keeping our fingers crossed that we won’t be seeing any SUV added to the Italian marquee’s family tree.
