Tokyo 2009: Lexus LFA Supercar Debut [Gallery and Video]

After four long automotive years, three concept versions, numerous cameo appearances in autoshows, ladies and gentlemen, the first production supercar by Toyota Motor Corporation is finally here! The Lexus LFA has just been officially unveiled at this year’s Tokyo Motor Show.
The new Lexus supercar looks dashing in person and is certainly more extreme than the Toyota FT-86 concept which is been showcased a stone’s throw away. Aesthetics aside, the new rear-wheel drive Lexus supercar is packed with some very impressive specifications. It will be driven by a 4.8-liter V10 with 552 bhp, 354 lb-ft torque, six-speed sequential gearbox and should send you from zero to hundred within 3.7 seconds and topping the speedometer at 325km/h.
So is the Lexus LFA Toyota’s answer to Nissan’s GTR? Not quite. The Lexus LFA is expected to cost US $375,000, when it reaches its first customers in early 2011, not quite the “bargain” that Nissan is providing with its GTRs. Despite it being natively right hand drive, you will most probably have a hard time spotting any of them in Malaysia or Singapore since only 500 will be manufactured with Lexus expecting to make a loss on each production model.
