Volkswagen Scirocco Makes Its Debut

Nearly a year after making its European premiere, Volkswagen Scirocco has been launched in Singapore. The two-door coupe, which is based on Golf's chassis, comes at a time when the popular Mk5 Golf GTI is fast selling out ahead of the expected Mk6 launch later this year. In the first four months of 2009, Volkswagen has been blazing up the sales chart, selling 78 percent more cars than in the same period last year.

Scirocco offers two engines for selection, a 158 bhp twincharged TSI 1.4-litre and a 197 bhp turbocharged 2.0-litre; both mated to a dual-clutch DSG transmission. Standard equipments include dual-zone climate control, eight-speaker stereo and automatic headlamps/wipers. The 2.0-litre model further adds cruise control, panoramic sunroof and adaptive chassis control.

You can now order the sleek, handsome Scirocco at S$ 93,300 and S$ 119,800 with COE for the 1.4-litre and 2.0-litre model respectively.
