2010 Porsche 911 Turbo—Faster, Cleaner, And Possibly Meaner
sponsored links
The 2010 Porsche 911 Turbo has arrived. Headlining the specs sheet is the turbocharged 3.8-litre powerplant that churns out 500 hp (368 kW) at 6000 rpm, and 650 Nm at 1950–5000 rpm, with overboost of 700 Nm at 2100–4000 rpm. Just like for Boxster, Cayman and Panamera, the PDK dual-clutch gearbox will be available. Fitted with the PDK gearbox and optional Sport Chrono Package Turbo, 911 Turbo completes 0–100 km/h in 3.4 seconds, while 0–200 km/h takes a mere 11.6 seconds. Top speed is rated at 312 km/h.
The PDK gearbox does not only offer faster acceleration over its manual counterpart, it lowers fuel consumption and emissions as well. Fuel economy at 8.8 km/litre is impressive for the pace on offer, while the 268 grams/km carbon dioxide emissions are significantly lower than other supercars'.
The new Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) system sounds good on paper, as it reduces any understeer by transferring torque to either one of the rear wheels depending on the situation. So let's hope it really is effective on the roads, as some electronic aids turn out not to be.
As always, exterior changes are minimal, with only the addition of LED daylight driving lights and LED turn indicators.
The 2010 911 Turbo goes on sale in Germany on November 21, at prices ranging from € 145,871 (RM 735,476) for the coupe and € 157,057 (RM 791,858) for the cabriolet.
