Naza To Assemble Peugeot 207 Sedan For ASEAN Region

Riding on the success of the Peugeot–Naza collaboration, the two companies have signed an MOU regarding the assembly of Peugeot's 207 sedan in Naza's Gurun plant, which will act as the production hub supplying the rest of the ASEAN region starting October of next year. Production is targeted at 18,000 for now.

Never heard of 207 sedan? Well, that is because Peugeot only produces 207 in 3-door and 5-door hatchback, coupe convertible, and estate body styles. 207 sedan is essentially a 206 underneath the 207 exterior. According to reports, 206's chassis would most likely be offered with a 1.6-litre engine. The finalised specifications for the car are yet to be announced.

Naza takes charge of the Peugeot franchise in Malaysia under Nasim Sdn Bhd, distributing models such as 207 CC, 308 and 407. Depending on the variant, 308 is available either as locally assembled or imported, while 407 is only locally assembled. 206, which has been discontinued in most parts of the world and succeeded by 207, is locally assembled and re-badged as a Naza model named 206 Bestari.
