Geneva Motor Show: Infiniti Emerg-E Concept
Infiniti has unveiled the seriously sleek Emerg-E Concept, an electric sports car capable of darting from zero to 100 km/h in just four seconds, and from standstill to 210 km/h in 30 seconds flat. Motivation—408 HP and 1000 Nm from zero rpm—comes from twin electric motors powered by a lithium-ion battery pack, which is in turn charged by a range-extending three-cylinder petrol engine.
The first Infiniti model to be designed and developed in Europe, sponsored by the British government's Technology Strategy Board, the two-seater Emerg-E Concept has efficiency on its side as well, producing zero emission in full electric model over a 50 km range, and even when the range-extending petrol engine kicks in when the batteries are depleted, the carbon emission level is only 55 grams/km—far below that of much less powerful cars we have on roads today.
