2013 Kia K9 Revealed In First Photos, Likely Heading To Malaysia
The 2013 Kia K9, the carmaker's flagship sedan, has been revealed before the car's launch in Korea, completing Kia's ‘K’-series range which also comprises the K5 (Optima) and the K7 (Cadenza). The K9's name and launch timing for markets beyond Korea will be announced later in 2012, though as of now, there are no plans to offer the car in Europe.
Sporting a now-familiar ‘tiger-nose’ grille, the Kia K9 is said to exemplify the latest iteration of Kia's evolving design language. With a profile and proportions taking after that of the BMW 7-Series, the flagship Kia sedan certainly looks imposing in the photos, with LED headlamps, LED combination lamps and bumper-integrated twin exhaust muffler adding to the K9's presence.
Kia's first-ever rear-wheel-drive sedan, the Kia K9 supposedly packages the ‘best of the best’ whether it is to do with design, the latest technologies or driving performance. No mechanical details have been released, but the K9 is likely to be powered by a V8 engine, planted atop a RWD platform borrowed from the Hyundai Equus sedan.
