The Ford EcoSport compact SUV, Ford's third global model after the Focus and Fiesta, has been unveiled at the Delhi Auto Expo. The first model developed at Camacari, Brazil, the five-door EcoSport will go on sale in India first, before entering at least 100 markets globally, including China, Australia, South America, the US and Europe. More importantly, ASEAN, which of course comprises Malaysia, is in Ford's plan as well.
While officially classified as a concept car, the Ford EcoSport's design, other than the full-LED headlamps, appears ready for production, which could start in as short a timeframe as six months according to Ford. The handsome styling is influenced by the Kinetic design language. The slim headlamps take after the Ford Evos Concept's, and the large octagonal grille adds to the EcoSport's presence.
Based on the same global B-segment platform as the Fiesta, the Ford EcoSport comes equipped with the smallest Ecoboost engine the company has built so far: a turbocharged 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine producing 121 HP and 170 Nm. For certain markets, a 109 HP, 140 Nm 1.5-litre petrol engine and a 90 HP, 204 Nm 1.5-litre diesel engine will be offered. Enjoy the live photos of the Ford EcoSport at the Delhi Auto Expo below!
