Lexus LF-LC Hints At Rival To Mercedes SL & BMW 6-Series?

The Lexus LF-LC 2+2 sport coupe has been unveiled before its official introduction at the Detroit Auto Show in January. Designed by Lexus' Calty design studio in California, the LF-LC is said to be “crafted from a clean sheet of paper” to take the L-Finesse design language one step further. Indeed, this concept car appears familiar, wearing an aggressive L-Finesse-evolved styling with elements from the LFA supercar and the all-new GS mid-size sedan.
While Lexus has not confirmed the LF-LC as a hybrid in its official press release, a “hybrid” badge is clearly visible at the side, indicating a Lexus hybrid powertrain. If emerging reports are to be believed, this Lexus is more than just a design study. Instead, the LF-LC would be a model positioned between the IS coupe and the LFA supercar, filling the void created by the discontinued SC coupe and providing Lexus with a natural rival to the Mercedes-Benz SL and BMW 6-Series. Likely to enter production in 2015, the LF-LC would be built atop a shortened version of the all-new LS's platform.
