Ford brought its widely successful Driving Skills for Life (DSFL) global campaign to Malaysia for the first time ever on 17-18 December. Held at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) involving 84 participating drivers, the DSFL sessions were aimed at raising awareness on safe driving techniques which could be life-saving when things turn out wrong on the roads.
Ford's DSFL campaign is a global initiative to encourage safe driving in order to address the rising number of road accidents worldwide. Like elsewhere, most road accidents in Malaysia can be avoided if drivers are able to make the right decision at the wheel. Carried out via classroom and practical sessions, DSFL teaches safe driving skills in four key areas: hazard recognition, vehicle handling, space management and speed management.
The 84 participants, mainly Ford Fiesta and Ford Focus customers, began with classroom sessions on the proper driving positioning, the correct steering control, the concept of understeer and oversteer, highway driving tips, driving in the rain, among others. The practical session then followed with participants learning key skills—such as the correct ABS braking technique, and the ESP and its role in obstacle avoidance—before driving through a slalom course.
