2012 All-New Kia Optima K5 To Launch In Malaysia On December 27

The 2012 all-new Kia Optima K5 is set to spice up Malaysia's D-segment with a combination of sleek good looks and equipment aplenty on December 27 at Naza Kia Malaysia's 3S facility in Petaling Jaya. No pricing has been announced just yet, but if the current range of Kia models is any indication, you can expect a competitive price level.

Named the ‘Best of the Best’ at the 2011 Red Dot Design Award, the Kia Optima K5 is easily one of the most beautiful cars in the D-segment, with style perhaps only rivaled by the Hyundai Sonata, with which it shares a platform. The powertrain is the same as that in the Sonata: a 165 HP, 198 Nm 2.0-litre Theta II engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Another 178 HP, 228 Nm 2.4-litre Theta II engine, available locally with the Sonata, will not be offered, at least from launch.

As you might expect on a flagship Kia sedan, the standard features are comprehensive, including 18" alloy wheels, auto-leveling HID xenon headlamps, LED daytime running lights, panoramic sunroof, full leather interior, dual-zone automatic climate control, automatic cruise control and Bluetooth connectivity. Safety equipment comprises six airbags and an electronic stability programme that works together with the braking and traction controls.
