2012 Mitsubishi Pajero Updated Version Launched In Malaysia

Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia has launched an updated version of its fully-imported flagship Pajero SUV for 2012. Priced at RM 298,980 with insurance, RM 9K more than the pre-update Pajero version launched in September 2010, the new Pajero comes with exterior cosmetic enhancements and new interior features, though the underlying mechanicals and powertrain are expectedly untouched.

Outside, 18" alloy wheels with a new design are accompanied by revised front grille and bumper, a new skid plate and a redesigned roof rail. Moving inside, the dashboard and instrument panel are now illuminated in red for a sportier feel, while a rear-view, auto-dimming camera system is installed to make parking easier. Also new to the Pajero is the Brake Override System, which throttles the engine output when both accelerator and brake pedals are simultaneously depressed.

The powertrain soldiers on unchanged, meaning a 3.8-litre V6 MIVEC engine continues to churn out 250 HP at 6000 rpm and 329 Nm at 2750 rpm. An INVECS-II five-speed automatic transmission with Sport Mode channels the output to all four wheels via Mitsubishi's advanced All Wheel Control (AWC) system, which is linked to an Active Stability and Traction Control (ASTC) system that regulates the torque dispensed to and the brake force applied on each wheel.

Even before this update, the 2011 Mitsubishi Pajero boasts a long equipment list, headed by a Rockford Acoustic Design sound system with 12 speakers, an 860-watt amplifier, and a 5.1-channel theater surround system. Other notable features include a tilt-and-slide sunroof, powered front seats, full leather upholstery, cruise control and keyless entry.
